SHS EXPLAINED
Questions, answered.
Clear answers about hybrid technology, charging, range, ownership and everyday life with SHS.
Understanding SHS
Super Hybrid System (SHS) is a future hybrid technology solution developed by OMODA&JAECOO brand adapted to meet the diverse needs of the international market. It has two clear technological development paths, PHEV and HEV, combining fuel power and pure electric like comfortable driving experience, with super capabilities such as super high performance, super long combined range, and super low energy consumption.
SHS-P is OMODA JAECOO’s plug-in hybrid system. It has a larger battery that can be charged externally, allowing more daily journeys to be completed using electric power. When the available battery charge becomes low, the vehicle automatically continues in hybrid mode.
SHS-H is OMODA JAECOO’s self-charging hybrid system. It does not need to be plugged in and automatically manages the petrol engine, electric motor, regenerative braking and battery while driving.
In simple terms, SHS-P provides greater electric-driving capability, while SHS-H provides hybrid efficiency without the need for external charging.
Not exactly. When sufficient battery charge is available, SHS-P can provide an EV-like driving experience for many daily journeys. Unlike a battery electric vehicle, it also has a petrol engine and can continue operating as a hybrid when charging is unavailable or the battery level is low.
This means SHS-P can be driven like an EV for shorter journeys and like a hybrid for longer-distance driving.
Charging
No. External charging is not required for the vehicle to continue driving. When the available battery charge is low, the system automatically switches to hybrid operation, with the petrol engine and electric motor working together as required.
Regular charging is recommended to maximise electric driving and reduce fuel consumption.
A wallbox is not essential. Whether you install one depends on your daily driving, parking arrangements and access to charging.
A dedicated wallbox generally provides faster and more convenient home charging, but SHS-P can still operate as a hybrid when external charging is not available.
Yes. SHS-P can still be used without home charging because it can continue operating in hybrid mode.
However, access to charging at home, work or public charging locations will allow you to complete more journeys using electric power.
Range & efficiency
There is no need to stop immediately and recharge. The vehicle automatically continues in hybrid mode, coordinating the petrol engine and electric motor according to driving conditions.
The engine can provide propulsion and generate electricity as required, allowing the vehicle to continue driving as long as petrol is available.
Speed, temperature, driving style, traffic, terrain, vehicle load and climate control use can all affect actual range.
They are different laboratory test procedures. Figures should always be presented with the applicable test standard and should not be compared as if they are identical.
Ownership & safety
Hybrid batteries are designed for long-term vehicle use. Final warranty details depend on the applicable Australian model and warranty program.
Use the authorised OMODA JAECOO retailer network for servicing and support.
Selected SHS-P models may support Vehicle-to-Load, or V2L, allowing the vehicle to power compatible external appliances. Availability and power output vary by model and should be confirmed against the final Australian specification.
