ALL-ELECTRIC, SIMPLY EXPLAINED
Less complexity.
More possibility.
No petrol engine. No tailpipe emissions while driving. The J5 EV stores electricity in its battery and delivers it through an electric motor, giving you immediate response with fewer drivetrain components between you and the road.
Energy in. Motion out.

Driving
Drive energy flows forward
The battery supplies electricity. Power electronics precisely manage its delivery, and the motor turns the wheels.
Regenerative braking
Movement becomes energy again
When you lift off or brake, the motor can work in reverse as a generator, sending recovered energy back towards the battery.
RANGE, IN THE REAL WORLD
402 km is the
starting point1.
The official WLTP figure gives you a consistent way to compare vehicles. Your actual range is shaped by the journey: how fast you travel, the conditions outside and what you carry.
01
Set up before you set off
When practical, pre-condition the cabin while connected to a charger so more battery energy is available for the road.
02
Smooth is efficient
Progressive acceleration, steady speeds and anticipation help reduce energy use.
03
Check the essentials
Correct tyre pressures and removing unnecessary load can help every charge go further.

CHARGE YOUR WAY
Plug in where
life happens.
Top up overnight at home, add charge while you shop, or use DC fast charging on a longer trip. The best charging routine is usually the one that fits into your day.
| 01 | Household power pointConvenient for occasional top-ups. It is the slowest method and should use compliant equipment and a suitable outlet. | AC |
| 02 | Home wall chargerA dedicated Type 2 wall unit can make regular overnight charging faster and easier. Installation must be completed by a qualified professional. | TYPE 2 |
| 03 | Public DC fast chargingIdeal for longer journeys. The J5 EV can charge from 30–80% in approximately 28 minutes under suitable conditions.2 | 130 kW |
Public charger availability, access and pricing are managed by third-party networks.
BATTERY CONFIDENCE
Built to be part
of the long run.
The high-voltage battery is more than a collection of cells. Integrated monitoring and temperature management work together to support performance, charging and long-term reliability.
Coverage is subject to the Australian warranty terms, §See our terms and conditions for full details.
01 Let the car manage the battery.
The battery management system monitors key conditions as you drive and charge.
02 Use the right routine.
Follow the Owner’s Manual for everyday charging guidance and use the full available range when your journey calls for it.
03 Expect charging to adapt.
Charge speed naturally varies and generally slows as the battery approaches full.
ELECTRIC, EVERY DAY
Designed to fit your life,
not rearrange it.
01
Make the most of home energy
If you have rooftop solar, a compatible home charging setup may help you use more of the energy you generate and reduce charging costs.
02
A simpler powertrain
Without an engine oil system or exhaust, a BEV powertrain removes several traditional maintenance items. Always follow the J5 EV service schedule.
03
Plan longer trips with confidence
Check chargers along your route, allow for conditions and choose stops that work with your day—not just your battery.
EV QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Good to know.
Energy stored in the high-voltage battery is managed by power electronics and sent to the electric motor, which drives the front wheels. When you slow down, regenerative braking can convert some of the vehicle’s movement back into electrical energy for the battery.
The JAECOO J5 EV has a claimed range of up to 402 km on the WLTP test cycle. Real-world range varies with speed, driving style, weather, terrain, vehicle load, accessory use and battery condition.
You can charge at home using compatible equipment or at public AC and DC charging locations. The J5 EV uses a Type 2 connection for AC charging and CCS2 for DC fast charging—widely used across Australia.
DC fast charging is useful on longer journeys. For everyday charging, use the charging method and limits recommended in the Owner’s Manual. Charging speed can reduce as the battery fills and varies with battery temperature and charger output.
The vehicle will provide warnings as charge becomes low. Plan to recharge before the battery is depleted. If the vehicle cannot be driven, contact your roadside assistance provider and follow the towing instructions in the Owner’s Manual.
Feel electric for yourself.
1 Claimed electric driving range is based on WLTP test results. Actual range will vary depending on driving style, road and traffic conditions, environmental conditions, vehicle load, accessory use, vehicle condition and battery age/condition. Figure is a guide only.
2 Vehicle charging times are approximate only and may vary due to the condition and temperature of the traction battery, charger capability, charging equipment and environmental conditions. Maximum charger output does not determine the vehicle’s continuous charging rate.
